Creative arts therapy for meaningful change

Welcome!

Making things. And making sense of things. It's one of the most lively human impulses there is - to write, to shape, to express, to seek meaning - especially when life feels too big or messy for words alone.

Sense in the Making offers arts-led therapy to help people explore different ways of being and knowing. We start with materials and listen to what emerges. A colour that ‘speaks’. An image that surprises you. A moment that connects.

I’m Jody Kingston, a creative arts therapist based in Melbourne/Naarm. I love the way materials show us things that thinking alone often can't. In working with the arts, we find new ways of understanding our struggles and gently bring new meanings to light.

If you've ever found it hard to find the words, or are simply drawn to a more embodied, creative way of understanding yourself, take a look at our therapeutic services or explore how to begin working with me.

Sense in the making…

Creative arts therapy offers a way to explore feelings and experiences that are hard to put into words.

People find their way to therapy by many different paths. For some, it’s to cope with stress, burn out or major life changes. For others, it’s to better understand who they are.

Working with the arts in therapy can help you give voice to your challenges and find meaning in your own way.

Hi! I’m Jody, a creative arts therapist based in Melbourne/Naarm.

I work with adults navigating stress and challenges with their mental health and wellbeing, using the arts to make sense of the struggle. A healthy dose of curiosity is all you need to begin.

Arts-led psychotherapy might be for you if…

  • You find it hard to connect with your feelings through talking alone

  • You're going through some big changes at work or in your relationships

  • You're a creative person feeling stuck and not sure how to move forward

  • You give so much to others and forget to give back to yourself

  • You’re not sure why you struggle so much with the things everyone else finds so easy
